In the beginning of Anna Karenina, Leo Tolstoy wrote: "Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way." The Browns and the Jones families were each dysfunctional in its own way. A violent grandfather, a stoic grandmother, a narcissistic aunt, a juvenile delinquent cousin, an alcoholic father--every family has such people. Surviving them is the goal.
